ALBUM REVIEW: MAYDAY PARADE- VALDOSTA

Number two: Mayday Parade – Valdosta EP.

Mayday Parade has come back with a great new acoustic EP called “Valdosta.” The EP features old songs from the previously released Anywhere But Here, A Lesson In Romantics, and even Tales Told From Dead Friends..with the exception of a few new ones.  Many of the songs on the EP are smoothly accompanied by an acoustic guitar, string instruments, and two voices (Derek Sanders and someone else in the band who I believe is Jake Bundrick instead of the usual Jeremy Lenzo) –see Bruised and Scarred.  Usually, I find that many of Mayday’s slower songs can end up becoming whiny, but on this EP, that isn’t the case. Derek’s voice is smooth and easy during most of the songs, and when he needs to project his voice, it still comes off as calm and easy to listen to –check out Amber Lynn.  All in all, this is good work worth listening to from Mayday (although, I think we all wish ALL of these songs were new). Make sure to pick up your copy at Hot Topic (and Hot Topic only!!!) or digitally on iTunes and support the guys!
